Who We Are
SSOFHDEV, Inc. is a private voluntary organization that works to help others help themselves. Established and duly registered with the SEC as non-stock, non-profit, organization in 1988. It was an offshoot of St. 
Theresa College (Tandag) Community Outreach Programs and Services. Eventually it separated itself as it developed and gives wider in its concerns. At present SSOFHDEV serves as Community Resource Center. It envisions a better quality of life of the deprived, poor and marginalized people to be truly human, self-reliant and empowered in charting their own development destiny in a sustainable and environmentally friendly, just and peaceful situation.
Since its establishment, it already assisted approximately two hundred community institutions, people’s organizations, self-help groups and cooperatives by providing them with technical assistance to ensure that the infrastructure, livelihood, enterprise, water systems, and agricultural equipments (Pre and Post Harvest Facilities) support projects extended by the funding partners of SSOFHDEV will sustain and will be benefited by the most depressed sectors of the society.
SSOFHDEV operates province wide, with its main office at Tandag, Surigao del Sur and a sub site office at Lianga, Surigao del Sur. SSOFHDEV is a regular member of Philippine Partnership for the Development of Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA-Mindanao Network), Mindanao Coalition of Development NGO (MINCODE), Local Service Provider Network (LSPN), Northern Mindanao NGO Alliance (NORMINGOAL), East Diwata Sustainable Unit Association (EDSA).
The organization in the past ten years is a private sector representative of the Province to Mindanao Economic Development Council, Regional Development Council/NEDA 13, Provincial and City Development Council of Tandag. It participated in the formulation of Provincial Medium Term Development Plan at RDC, PDC and CDC level. Participated/implemented projects of the NGO network driven activities (planning, implementation & Monitoring).
Presently, the organization is handling the following development projects:
PROJECT CARAGA
In partnership with Philippine Partnership for the Development of Human Resources in Rural Areas and INTERED. The project covers Barangay Cayale, Tago; Barangay Mabuhay and San Jose of Tandag City. It assisted 360 households in increasing their income by 50% at the end of the project both for Indigenous People and Non-Indigenous People.
E-CARE Project
Enhancing Community Assets thru Agricultural Productivity and Rural Enterprise (E-CARE), a value-based holistic approach for development supporting the 80 households for the improvement and increase of their household income through SHGs formation and provision of livestock, farm equipments and agricultural planting materials.
The project is implemented in partnership with HEIFER International – Philippines and implemented in Barangay Buatong, San Agustin, Surigao del Sur.
ACT for Peace Programme
The Action for Conflict Transformation for Peace and Development (ACT for Peace) through the United Nation Multi-Donor Programme and the Government of the Philippines through Mindanao Economic Development Council (UNMDP-GoP/MEDCO). Its objective is to strengthen the peacebuilding effort and sustain the gains of peace and sustainable development in Southern Philippines. It covers 5 pilot vulnerable/conflict affected barangays, namely: Barangay Caras-an & Layog of Tago; Barangay Bolhoon & San Roque of San Miguel; and, Barangay Maitom of Tandag City.
The project promotes human security through improved access to basic services. It builds multi-stakeholders’ capacity for Conflict Transformation – both for IPs and Non-IPs communities.
