A. Community-based Conservation and Rehabilitation of Critical Agusan Marsh Ecosystems
This component involves restoration of denuded significant habitats of Agusan Marsh with high biodiversity threats and importance. Communities are mobilized to enhance awareness and participation towards conservation and protection of the habitats. This component facilitates the crafting of specific community environmental plans to specific conserved sites. These plans were lobbied and mainstreamed to the local development plans for sustainability mechanism. These plans cited the management framework and has been discussed with the Protected Area management Board as the governing body of the entire Agusan marsh.
B. Establishment and Enhancement of a Sustainable Resource-Based Livelihood
The component supports the provision of upscaling facilities of resource- based livelihoods such as post harvest facilities for corn and rice farming. The component also provides marketing support for the farming and fishing production. People’s organizations were trained on developing their skills on the different production technologies that are environment friendly. The POs were trained on organizational development and management, leadership, financial management and other skills needed for their sustainability. Each PO have their organizational management plans and policies, systems and procedures.
C. Environmental Education and Advocacy
Production of information and education materials is supported by this component. These materials were installed and distributed to national hi-ways, community households, commercial establishments, government offices and others aiming to increase the awareness of the people in Agusan on the richness of natural resources of Agusan Marsh. POs, LGUs and NGOs were also exposed to conferences, forums and community discussions. Part of the information and education is the initiative to design and operationalize a management information system that will factor-in all developments of the AM FOCAS and will be integrated in the future to the information system of the Province.
D. Provision of Basic Social Services
This component involves the establishment, operationalization and access of community- managed rain water collectors, mobile boat clinics, health centers and floating literacy centers. These services were also linked to government social service programs for sustainability mechanism. The component drives each LGU to provide regular support to social services needed.
